The latest Twinspect update is here, bringing powerful new features and enhanced functionality to make your workflows more efficient. Starting today, you can explore improvements in 3D model management, annotation customization, and media attachments — all designed to streamline your experience.
Key new features overview
- Beta feature: tiled format for the upload of projects with 3D models.
- Custom project annotation template.
- Annotation attachments: additional images, 360º panoramic images, videos, and PDF files.
- Improved capabilities for express projects: maps and localization accuracy.
- Improved accuracy of interdependent 3D points and image annotations.
These features, along with general interface usability upgrades will leverage the workflow and the output of the inspection projects.
Manage your large-scale projects with ease
Working with large 3D models has never been easier. With this release, we have removed size limitations, allowing seamless processing of large-scale projects, keeping the same quality output as photogrammetry software.
What’s new for you?
- No size restrictions – open large-scale projects in the cloud effortlessly.
- Instant loading – no need to wait for large OBJ files; 3D tiles stream dynamically, refining the quality as you navigate.
- High-resolution image quality – enjoy stunning quality without degradation from the original photogrammetry output.
- Beta feature access: Twinspect users can join the beta program by contacting us via the email indicated in the release notes. Now the beta feature is accessible on the creation of the project: select “New Tileset Project” button in the application to start.
How to upload projects in 3D tiles:
- Fill in the required project information.
- Select files to upload.
- Receive recommended export settings.
- Drop files into the designated area and start uploading.
This feature is currently optimized for Agisoft Metashape and Bentley iTwin, but we are working on expanding compatibility. Even if your software isn't yet supported, you can still upload your projects, and we’ll process them as soon as possible.
This update ensures faster, higher-quality, and scalable 3D model visualization, transforming how you interact with your projects. We encourage you to try it out.
Take control of your annotations
In our previous release, we introduced custom annotation templates, allowing users to define annotation fields such as text fields, number inputs, dropdown menus, linked options, and checkboxes. These templates help standardize documentation and meet regulatory requirements.
What’s new for you?
- Choose your template at project creation – if your organization uses multiple templates, you can now select the most relevant one when setting up a new project.
- Modify templates for existing projects – if your project doesn’t yet contain annotations, you can switch templates anytime. If it already does, contact our support team to assist with a template transfer.
- Default template always available – the Twinsity template remains accessible to all users.
Annotation media attachments
Now, you can enhance documentation and inspections by attaching media files directly to your annotations, including:
- panoramic images,
- videos (currently compatible with: MP4 (H.264), M4V (H.264), WebM),
- additional images and *.pdf documents.
How can you use this?
- Detailed inspections – if a 3D model reveals a defect but lacks a close-up view, you can capture and attach additional high-resolution images for clarity.
- Proof of fixes – upload follow-up images after repairs to document your work and keep accurate records.
This feature enhances your inspection process, documentation, and asset management workflows, ensuring all necessary details are stored in one place.
Enjoy more accurate 2D-3D projections
We’ve made significant improvements to projection accuracy between 3D models and images. This enhancement applies to newly processed projects, but if you notice misalignment in an existing project, simply contact support for adjustments.
Express projects just got better
If you rely on image-based inspections without needing a full 3D model, express projects now include:
- Annotation and AI detection mapping: view annotations and AI detections on an interactive map, linked to their corresponding images.
- Optimized for power line & pole inspections: this is especially useful for telecom towers, power lines, and infrastructure inspections, helping you pinpoint detections instantly on a geographical map.
While express projects do not support precise 3D positioning, they now provide a practical way to visualize inspection data on a 2D map.
